The Adrenal Stress Profile (Cortisol x 4; DHEA-S) assesses salivary cortisol at four points across the day alongside a single measurement of DHEA-S. This approach captures the diurnal rhythm of cortisol as well as overall adrenal androgen output using non-invasive saliva sampling.
Mapping cortisol at waking, late morning, afternoon and night allows practitioners to observe daily hormone patterns rather than relying on a single time-point measurement. Including DHEA-S provides additional context around longer-term adrenal hormone production alongside short-term cortisol variation.
Practitioners typically interpret results alongside symptom history, sleep patterns, stress exposure, lifestyle factors and other laboratory findings. Attention is given to timing, daily routine and recent stressors when reviewing patterns with clients.
